PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation apparatus for vehicle capable of controlling a child-proof mechanism automatically by using both information held inside a vehicle and information based on outside information of the vehicle. SOLUTION: The navigation apparatus includes: the child-proof mechanism which is disposed at a door of the vehicle and inhibits any door opening operation from the inside of the door; a position detecting means for detecting the current position of the vehicle; a road map data memory means for storing road map data; and a child-proof mechanism operation controlling means which automatically activates the child-proof mechanism, when the current position of the vehicle is included in a predetermined area in a road map.
