PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for confirming normality of a function much closer to a subscriber side within an analog subscriber circuit. SOLUTION: While a subscriber terminal (telephone set) 5 is on-hooked, a DC power feeding section (11) and a 2-wire/4-wire converting section (15) of an analog subscriber circuit (10) are operated, a test signal sent from a signal transmitting section (2) is returned via the 2-wire/4-wire converting section and the DC power feeding section within the analog subscriber circuit and a level of a return signal returned as echo is judged by a level judging section 4, so that normality of a function including the DC power feeding section and the 2-wire/4-wire converting section within the analog subscriber circuit can be confirmed, thereby specifying a fault part when a fault occurs.
