PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for more efficiently preparing propylene oxide from propylene, oxygen, and hydrogen.
SOLUTION: The method for preparing propylene oxide is characterized by reacting propylene, oxygen, and hydrogen with each other in the presence of a noble metal catalyst and a titanosilicate catalyst in a liquid phase comprising a polycyclic compound prepared by the condensation of, or by the direct linking of, or by linking via a linking group selected from groups comprising an oxygen atom, a carbon chain, or both of an oxygen atom and a carbon chain, two or more of cyclic compounds of the same or different species selected from the group A shown below, or a thus prepared polycyclic group subsequently substituted with at least one substituent selected from the group B shown below, provided that a polycyclic compound comprising two hydroxy groups or two oxo groups selected from the group B present at its para positions or its ortho positions is excluded. The group A: benzene, cyclopentadiene, cycloheptatriene, furan, pyran, cyclopentene, cyclopentane, cyclohexane, cyclohexene, cyclohexadiene, cycloheptane, cycloheptene, and cycloheptadiene. The Group B: halogen, alkyl, alkenyl, alkoxy, hydroxyalkyl, acyl, oxo, hydroxy and cyano.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
