PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon commutator constituted so that a solder is prevented from elution from an insulating groove in coil fusing. SOLUTION: A ring-like segment bonding portion equivalent portion 8a of a metal plate 8 which is used as a plurality of riser metals 5 by forming an insulating groove H is formed on one cylindrical end surface of a cylindrical carbon base material 7 by soldering. In this case, a notch portion 8d having a circumferential direction width S1 wider than a groove width S2 of the insulating groove H is formed on an outer dimension portion of the insulating groove H forming portion of the segment bonding portion equivalent portion 8a.
