PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an information notification method capable of allowing a user to know the presence of update information easily even if the power of a client is off without increasing the load of a server. SOLUTION: The information notification method of a firewall device receives notification information and update information including the update date from a web server. The method includes: a step (S13) for acquiring update information from the web server; a step (S15) for reading update history information at a storage section that is the update information acquired so far and notifying the reception of new information, when notification information including an update date after the most recent update date included in the update history information is included in the acquired update information; a step (S17) for storing, at the storage section, update history information where update information including an update date after the most recent update date is added; and a step (S18) for displaying the reception of new information based on the notification.
