PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing moisture-proof paper, which develops a high moisture resistance even in a moisture-proof layer with a small coated amount and has excellent production efficiency. SOLUTION: The method for producing moisture-proof paper includes coating at least one side of a paper substrate with an undercoating material containing a pigment and a binder to form an undercoated layer and before drying of the undercoated layer, coating the undercoated layer with a moisture-proof coating material containing an inorganic layer-like compound and a synthetic resin emulsion by a curtain coating process to form a moisture-proof layer. The pigment of the undercoating material is one or more substances selected from the group consisting of kaoline, clay, talc, silicon dioxide, titanium dioxide and mica.
