PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pest insect trap inhibiting escaping of trapped insect. SOLUTION: The pest insect trap is constituted of a cylindrical case 7b, placed vertically in a casing 1a, having a hood 1c containing an attraction light source 2 and placed at the top of the casing; a suction means 4 for sucking the insect attracted by the light source, along with the air into the cylindrical case; an air-permeable insect capturing bag 10 for capturing the insect from the air discharged from the suction means; a switching means 8 for performing on/off operation of the light source and the suction means; and a shutter means 7 placed at the upper opening of the cylindrical case, which is opened when the sucking means is energized and closed, when the suction means is stopped. The upper opening of the cylindrical case is closed with the hitherto opened shutter means, by stopping the lighting and suction means, and accordingly, escape of the living insects among the trapped insects to the side of the sucking means is surely prevented, at replacement of the insect-capturing bag.
