The device (58) has a support pin (10) guided displaceably in longitudinal direction of a support table (30) and arranged in a matrix. The support pin includes a casing (12) for carrying a suction area (16) to be turned towards a workpiece (14) e.g. flat like plate-like workpiece. A slide (18) of the support pin is displaceably supported in the casing and grips the suction area. The casing is guided longitudinally-displaceable in the table to include a channel (38) for communicating with a break-through (28) of the casing.
