<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an EspA polypeptide, which is secreted by pathogenic escherichia coli (E. coli), such as the enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) and enterohemorrhagic E. coli (EHEC). <P>SOLUTION: The isolated EspA polypeptide being (a) the secreted polypeptide from the enteropathogenic E. coli or the enterohemorrhagic E. coli, and having (b) a molecular weight of about 25 kilodalton measured by SDS-PAGE; an isolated nucleic acid sequence encoding EspA; a production method of recombinant EspA; antibodies which bind to EspA; a kit for the detection of EspA-producing E. coli; and a method of immunizing a host with EspA to induce a protective immune response to EspA, are provided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
