PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing unit capable of reliably identifying a characteristic area having the movement of an object, or the like.

SOLUTION: The image processing unit has: an image acquisition section for acquiring a plurality of images imaged by each of a plurality of imaging apparatuses; a characteristic area detection section for detecting the characteristic area from one of a plurality of images; a corresponding area identification section for identifying a corresponding area that should include the same object as that included in the characteristic area in other images of one image; and a characteristic area identification section for identifying the characteristic area in other images from the corresponding area in other images identified by the corresponding area identification section.
