摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium battery which is improved in high-temperature storage characteristics in case it is stored in a high temperature environment of 100&deg;C or more and capable of large-current discharge having an advantage in cost. <P>SOLUTION: The lithium battery is provided with a positive electrode containing manganese dioxide as a positive electrode active material, a negative electrode containing metal lithium or lithium alloy as a negative electrode active material, and an organic electrolyte. The manganese dioxide is of low crystallinity, and the specific surface area of the manganese dioxide is 3-12 m<SP>2</SP>/g. By using such manganese dioxide, reaction of a non-aqueous solvent included in the organic electrolyte and the manganese dioxide in a high-temperature environment can be prevented. Thereby, even if the battery is stored in a high temperature of 100&deg;C or more, swelling of the battery can be reduced without greatly impairing the other discharge characteristics, and high-temperature storage characteristics, large-current discharge characteristics, and low-temperature discharge characteristics or the like can be improved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
