PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for adjusting the optical axis of an optical component capable of automatically executing the determination and adjustment of a position to be adjusted when the optical axis of the optical component is adjusted, the optical component adjusted by the optical axis adjustment method, or the like. SOLUTION: This optical axis adjusting method is used for adjusting the optical axis of the optical component having a case for storing at least a semiconductor laser chip, an optical fiber, and a fixing member. The optical axis adjusting method comprises a coincidence degree measurement program 32 of measuring the degree of coupling of an outgoing light from the semiconductor laser chip to the optical fiber, an adjusting execution position calculation program 34 of calculating the adjusting execution position for executing the adjustment of the optical axis of the optical fiber, and an adjusting execution program 36 of executing the adjustment of the optical axis of the optical fiber based on the adjusting execution position calculated by the adjusting execution position calculation program 34. The adjusting execution position calculation program 34 calculates the adjusting execution position based on the preset adjusting execution position data related to the coincidence degree and the adjusting execution position.
