PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scroll fluid machine that prevents the wear and destruction of a seal ring at a low cost and effectively, while securing a lubricating oil amount supplied from a high-pressure chamber to a back-pressure chamber, and can enhance the durability and reliability of the seal ring, and those of the fluid machine. SOLUTION: A scroll fluid machine includes a frame (18) fixed to a housing (2) for orbitally and revolvably supporting a movable scroll (32) on a pedestal face (40) facing a rear surface (36a), a seal ring (58) supported to the pedestal face and partitioning a back-pressure chamber (56) from a high-pressure chamber (54) side between the pedestal face and the rear surface, a plate (60) attached to the rear surface and having a sliding contact surface (60a) with which the seal ring slidingly contacts, a communication groove (62) formed on the sliding contact surface having a predetermined width (W) in the orbiting and revolving direction of the movable scroll and making the high-pressure chamber and the back-pressure chamber communicate with each other while intermittently straddling the seal ring accompanied by the orbiting and revolving motion of the movable scroll.
