摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the emission performance during the drive with an oxygen-containing fuel or a mixed fuel containing the same. SOLUTION: An exhaust emission control device comprises an exhaust main flow passage (a first exhaust emission passage 13, a second exhaust emission passage 14, a bypass passage 15, and a third exhaust emission passage 16) for allowing exhaust emission gas by the combustion of an oxygen-containing fuel, a first exhaust emission purifying catalyst 21 on the main exhaust emission flow passage, an exhaust emission sub flow passage (the first exhaust emission passage 13, the bypass passage 15, the second exhaust emission passage 14, and the third exhaust emission passage 16) for connecting the upstream side to the downstream side of the first exhaust emission purifying catalyst 21 in the exhaust emission main flow passage, a water adsorption means 31 for adsorbing water content in the exhaust emission gas on the exhaust emission sub flow passage, a second exhaust emission purifying catalyst 22 downstream of the water adsorption means 31 on the exhaust emission sub flow passage, and first and second flow passage changing valves 17, 18 for changing the flow passages of the exhaust emission gas so that the flow passage is changed to the exhaust emission sub flow passage side if the first and second exhaust emission purifying catalysts 21, 22 are not in an active state, then, changed to the exhaust emission main flow passage after the elapse of the predetermined time, and if the water adsorption means 31 reaches the temperature for dissociating water content, the exhaust emission flows at least through the exhaust emission sub flow passage.
