PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polysaccharide having a new structure and physical properties and develop as a new industrially useful material, especially the microorganism-originated polysaccharides having polyfunctional effects. SOLUTION: This polysaccharide is provided by being produced by using bacteria belonging to the genus Halomonas, which is a kind of marine microorganisms, consisting of the 4 kinds of saccharides of D-ribose, D-N-acetylglucosamine, D-N-acetylgalactosamine and D-galacturonic acid as essentially constituting saccharides and having 1,000,000 to 6,000,000 weight-average molecular weight measured by a gel filtration chromatography.
