PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a defective pixel repair method for repairing a defective pixel in an inexpensive, simple and easy manner, and to provide a display device in which the defective pixel is repaired by the method. SOLUTION: The display device 10 having pixels arrayed on a support substrate 12 is characterized in that a light scattering property is imparted by energy selectively applied from the outside to at least one member arranged on the light extraction side of the defective pixel 22b coming into a put-out state at all times among the pixels. Preferably, a heat sensitive layer 24 is provided which changes from a transparent state to a light scattering state when heated to a level of a specified temperature or higher. An inspection for specifying the defective pixel coming into the put-out state at all times among the pixels arrayed on the support substrate is performed, and the light scattering property is imparted by selectively applying the energy from the outside to at least one member arranged on the light extraction side of the defective pixel specified by the inspection.
