PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect a toner residual amount in a toner storage body, compared with a prior art, without increasing cost. SOLUTION: An RFID tag 15 is movable to differ a distance to an RFID reader writer 16 in response to the toner residual amount in a toner container 61, and the RFID reader writer 16 is provided with: a command transmission part for transmitting a command to the RFID tag 15, using a carrier wave at a predetermined control voltage; a demodulating part for demodulating a response data received from the RFID tag 15; a demodulation propriety determination part for determining the propriety of demodulation by the demodulating part; a control voltage setting part for making variable a control voltage of the carrier wave when the demodulation is determined not to be allowed by the demodulation propriety determination part, and for setting the variable control voltage to the control voltage of the carrier wave hereafter, when the demodulation of the response data corresponding to the transmission command in the carrier wave by the variable control voltage is determined to be demodulatable by the demodulation propriety determination part; and a toner residual amount detecting part for calculating the toner residual amount corresponding to the set control voltage.
