PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device that has a simple configuration and is capable of quicker response to switching between the exposure and non-exposure of an imaging element. SOLUTION: A single lens reflex camera 10, which is the imaging device, includes: an imaging element 4 that has a light receiving face for imaging; a photographic lens 1 that forms a subject image; a finder optical system that has a screen 5, penta prism 6, and an eyepiece lens 7 and forms the subject image on the finder; an AF sensor section 11 that detects a focusing distance, which is the optical characteristic of the subject image; and a reflecting unit 2 that slides between the first and second positions along a direction that intersects the optical axis of the finder optical system while kept in an inclining position, the first position being provided so that the subject luminous flux passed through the photographic lens is guided to the finder optical system and AF sensor section, and the second position being provided so that the subject luminous flux retracted from the optical axis of the finder optical system is made incident on the light receiving face.
