<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive system for a hybrid vehicle having an internal combustion engine, a coupler, an electrical machine, and an electrical energy storage device, in which the electrical machine can be used as a generator to charge the electrical energy storage device, and/or can be applied as a prime mover under the discharge of the electrical energy storage device. <P>SOLUTION: The electrical energy storage device is constructed as a flywheel energy storage device having a second electrical machine annexed thereto.
