<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic photoelectric conversion element having an excellent photoelectric conversion efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: The organic photoelectric conversion element has an organic layer including a copolymer which includes a repeating unit selected from a group comprising formula (1a) and formula (1b), and a repeating unit expressed by the formula (2). In the formulae, R, R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP>, and R<SP>4</SP>express an aryl group, having a carbon number of 6 to 60 which may independently comprises hydrogen atom, alkyl group having a carbon number of 1 to 20, alkoxy group having a carbon number of 1 to 20, or a substituent group. The R<SP>5</SP>independently expresses hydrogen atom, or an alkyl group having a carbon number of 1 to 20. The hydrogen atoms contained in these groups may be replaced by fluorine atoms.
