PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic transaction machine capable of immediately restoring the machine even when a transaction becomes impossible since a passbook can not be normally processed and the passbook is returned. SOLUTION: In the automatic transaction machine which accepts the passbook, performs predetermined processing, ejects the passbook to the outside of the machine to return it, it is provided with: a failure factor storage part which stores a factor of return when the passbook is returned since it can not be normally processed; a coping method storage part which stores a coping method according to the factor of the return; and a display part which displays the factor of the return and the coping method.
