PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pattern recognition device not causing deterioration of accuracy of pattern recognition with a small similarity calculation amount. SOLUTION: This pattern recognition device has: a diagonal similarity creation means 21 dividing a plurality of pieces of input data into a plurality of groups, and calculating similarity in the input data inside each of the group; a partial mutual similarity creation means 32 calculating similarity in the partial input data in the mutual groups; an all similarity matrix creation means 41 interpolating a non-calculation portion of the mutual groups based on the similarity acquired by the diagonal similarity creation means 21 and the partial mutual similarity creation means 32 to create similarity between all the pieces of the input data; a characteristic amount detection means 51 detecting at least one representative characteristic amount of the input data from a similarity matrix acquired by the all similarity matrix creation means 41; and a pattern classification means 52 pattern-classifying the input data from the characteristic amount acquired by the characteristic amount detection means 51.
