PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a collapsible zoom lens barrel where a moving retracting lens frame does not interfere with a backward lens frame and can perform smooth retracting operation when a failure operation occurs during collapsing operation. SOLUTION: The zoom lens barrel has a zoom driving source, a focus driving source, and a projection 10h projecting in the optical axis direction. The zoom lens barrel comprises the retracting lens frame 10 that holds a retracting lens 23, is driven by the zoom driving source, arranges the retracting lens on an optical path in a photographing state, moves in the optical axis direction by zooming, and rocks and retracts out of the optical path together with the projection in interlock with the transfer from the photographing state to a non-photographing state, and a focusing lens frame 13 that holds a focusing lens 24, is driven by the focus driving source to move the focusing lens in the optical axis direction, does not abut on the retracting lens frame in the photographing state and in the driving state in the shortening direction, abuts on the projection of the retracting lens frame during abnormal driving caused in the driving state in the shortening direction, and has guide trajectory sections 13c and 13d for guiding the projection along the rocking trajectory of the projection during abutting on the projection.
