PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for increasing the temperature of a reforming type hydrogen generation apparatus to a startup temperature without using any gas not taking part in reaction, such as inert gas or deteriorating a catalyst when the reforming system hydrogen generation apparatus is heated to the startup temperature. SOLUTION: The method for increasing the temperature of a reforming type hydrogen generation apparatus to a startup temperature includes supplying gas containing hydrocarbons and oxygen into the reforming type hydrogen generation apparatus to heat the inside of the reforming type hydrogen generation apparatus to the startup temperature.
