METHOD FOR ADJUSTING CONDITIONS OF RECORDING SIGNALS INTO OPTICAL INFORMATION RECORDING MEDIUM, AND INFORMATION RECORDING/REPRODUCING APPARATUS

A method for adjusting conditions of recording signals into an optical information recording medium comprises the steps of trial recording; determining the quality; selecting parameter candidate values; generating combinations of parameter values; repeating; and selecting as optimum values. In the trial recording step, a laser light is irradiated onto an optical information recording medium with first parameter values being successively changed based on a recording strategy including a plurality of adjustable parameters, thereby trial recording a pattern string. In the determining step, a signal quality value is determined for each of the first parameter values. In the step of selecting parameter candidate values, a plurality of parameter candidate values are selected from among the determined signal quality values. In the step of generating combinations of parameter values, the first parameter values are replaced by the plurality of parameter candidate values and then fixed and second parameters are selected as parameters the values of which are changed. In the repeating step, the foregoing steps are repeated for each of the plurality of parameters. Thereafter, in the step of selecting as optimum values, a combination of parameter candidate values is selected for which the variance of error between a reproduced signal waveform and a reference reproduced waveform is minimized.
