<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for manufacturing an epoxide which is excellent in activity and selectivity, which can be prepared with excellent reproductivity and with a high yield in the catalyst preparing process, and which is excellent in economy, and to provide a method for manufacturing a corresponding epoxide by gas phase oxidizing an unsaturated hydrocarbon with a molecular oxygen-containing gas in the presence of the catalyst. <P>SOLUTION: In the catalyst for manufacturing an epoxide which contains a carrier and a catalyst component carried by the carrier, the carrier is employed whose main component is α-alumina and which has a total porous volume of 0.55 ml/g or less measured by a method of mercury penetration and in which the total value, measured by a method of mercury penetration, of the porous volume in a range of a porous diameter of 100 μm or more is 0.010 ml/g or more. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
