<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To instantaneously display a video image (an image) on a screen of a DVI television while increasing the success probability of HDCP authentication by executing HDCP authentication again after changing the setting so that the resolution of a transmitting video image is further reduced than before when HDCP authentication fails. <P>SOLUTION: When making the connection setting with a DVI television 30, a control part 1 makes the connection setting by outputting video image and sound signals having the highest resolution in setting the video image and sound. When the next HDCP authentication fails in that state, HDCP authentication is repeated a preset number of times.
