PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve precision in specification processing of a driving road based on the grade information of the road. SOLUTION: A navigation apparatus stores road information indicating grade information for each road and the setting information of a determent section in advance. The determent section is a section for preventing the actual grade of a driving road that becomes a criterion of the road from being detected, and for example, is set in a section less than a radius L1 from a junction. The CPU of the navigation apparatus determines whether a vehicle is running on the determent section based on drive distance from the junction, when detecting the passage of the junction by an access road. When the road runs off the determent section, the CPU detects the actual grade of the driving road and checks the grade information of specific target candidate roads (access roads and general roads) up with the detected, actual grade. Then, the CPU specifies a road having a smaller degree of correlation with the actual grade of the driving road from the candidate roads, and displays the position of an own vehicle on the corresponding road on a map, based on the specified result.
