PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination apparatus internally mounting an LED chip for emitting illumination light which prevents an unnecessary temperature rise at a distal part due to heat generation at the LED chip and also prevents thermal damage on other units installed in juxtaposition with the LED chip. SOLUTION: The illuminating apparatus is provided with the LED chip 56 emitting illumination light, an LED holder 55 having a high thermal conductivity for holding the LED chip 56, a front nozzle 45 having a high thermal conductivity and installed at a position separated from the LED holder 56, a heat transfer wire 65 connecting the LED holder 56 and the front nozzle 45 for transferring heat generated at the LED chip 56 to the front nozzle 45, and a heat insulating section 63 arranged between the heat transfer wire 65 and a distal support block 41 holding an imaging unit 51 so as to prevent heat generated at the LED chip 56 being conducted to the distal support block 41. Heat generated at the LED chip 56 is transferred to the LED holder 55, then to the front nozzle 45 from the LED holder 55 via the heat transfer wire 65, and is radiated from the front nozzle.
