PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of forming an image of high and stable quality by driving cooling fans with saved power and the cooling fans, before the temperature of developer excessively rises, thereby quickly suppressing the decrease in flowability of the developer and developing into an excellent toner image. SOLUTION: A color image forming apparatus 1 includes: the cooling fans 60 to 63 which are provided on the side surface or back of an apparatus body 2 and suck air into the apparatus body 2; ducts 69 to 72 and flexible tubes 53 to 56 by which the sucked air is made to flow between the cooling fans 60 to 63 and developing devices for respective colors 35, to cool the respective developing devices 35; fan motors 84 to 87 which drive the cooling fans 60 to 63; respective torque detecting means 81 which detect the rotational torque of respective developing motors 82; and a control section 80 which controls the fan motors 84 to 87, so as to change the suction amount of the air for the cooling fans 60 to 63, according to the detected values of the torque detecting means 81.
