PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stiffener for a placket which has excellent effect of making the neck of a wearer neat when worn with buttons unfastened, is usable for any shirt without uncomfortable feeling, and easily detachable and exchangeable, and to provide a shirt with the stiffener for a placket. SOLUTION: The stiffeners 11a, 11b are each obtained by cutting an elastic sheet into a thin strip state and have each a length getting to a part lower than at least a second button, button holes 3b, 4b from the upper end parts of fly parts 2a, 2b of the shirt 1, wherein downward hook-like hook parts 6a, 6b are formed by making cuts 5a, 5b ranging from one side edge to the center part in a width direction respectively, the stiffeners are inserted into the insides of the fly parts 2a, 2b from insertion parts 7a, 7b formed at the side edge parts or the lower edge parts of the plackets of the shirt, and the hook parts 6a, 6b are hooked on the sewing thread 16 or the button hole 3b from above so as to be held at a prescribed position.
