An apparatus and a method for providing a remote navigation service in a mobile communication system are provided to receive remotely a navigation service by performing an image data communication process between a portable terminal for receiving the navigation service and a terminal for providing the navigation service. A mobile communications system for providing a remote navigation service includes a portable terminal(100) and a terminal(150). The portable terminal requests a remote navigation service for receiving and displaying a navigation output image as a navigation result. The terminal provides the remote navigation service to the portable terminal.
