A broadcasting service providing system and a method thereof in an error of a master packet controller for providing a convenient broadcast/multicast service are provided to prevent the interruption of the broadcast service by providing a broadcast service of a local type. A base station management server periodically checks the operating state of a packet controller(S500). If the malfunction of the packet controller is sensed(S502), the base station management server transmits error occurrence checking message to the broadcast service controller(S504). If the broadcast service controller determines that a master packet controller occurs malfunction(S508), the broadcast service controller changes the broadcast service of the global type to the local type(S512). The broadcast service controller generates the occurrence alarm message including error occurrence packet controller information(S514).
