The trigger mechanism (10) is complimented by a fast-acting electromagnet (2). During each individual shot, this arrests and then releases the hammer (6), via a lever (3) of the trigger mechanism (10). The electromagnet operates more rapidly than the trigger mechanism. It includes a plunger (1), coil (9) and spring (8). The hammer is cocked via the lever (7) of the gun mechanism, on each firing cycle. An independent claim IS INCLUDED FOR the corresponding method of firing.
