A solution for cleaning the surface of a nozzle plate of an inkjet print head and a method of cleaning the surface of the nozzle plate using the solution are provided to effectively clean the surface of the nozzle plate by using a small quantity of the cleaning solution and improve the durability of a dewetting coating film formed on the surface of the nozzle plate. A solution for cleaning the surface of a nozzle plate of an inkjet print head which jets ink droplets from nozzles to perform a printing operation includes a solvent and an additive having at least one of a leveling agent and a surfactant. The solvent is identical to the solvent included in ink used for the inkjet print head.
