A method of preparing tin sulfide nanoparticles is provided to control the size and shape while selectively manufacturing the tin sulfide particles and to prepare the tin sulfide particles without expansive equipment for the short time. A method of preparing tin sulfide nanoparticles the steps of: mixing one or more surfactants with a tin sulfide precursor and heating the mixture. A method of manufacturing a lithium ion battery(1) comprises the steps of: mixing the tin sulfide precursor and a surfactant containing at least one of amine-based surfactant and thiol-based surfactant; heating the mixture; separating the tin sulfide nanoparticles from the heated mixture; and forming the tin sulfide nano particle(11) as a cathode and the lithium electrode(20) as an anode.
