A display apparatus and a control method thereof are provided to minimize the decline of gradation expression by carrying out noise shaping when reducing the data bit of an image signal. A display device receives an image signal having an initial data bit(S11), and carries out the inverse gamma correction which converts the gamma of an inputted image signal in linear(S12). The display device converts the received input image signal into an image signal which has first data bit larger than initial data bit(S13), and multiplies the coefficient of color temperature to the image signal which has the first data bit(S21). The display device calculates the average brightness value of the inputted image signal and multiplies the brightness coefficient to the image signal which has the first data bit(S22). The display device converts the image signal having the first data bit into an image signal having a second data bit smaller than the first data bit while performing noise shaping for the image signal having the first data bit(S23).
