A two-stroke diesel combustion engine is provided to prevent that the scavenging air flows toward the scavenging air opening from the cylinder jacket opening by arranging a shift unit between the scavenging air opening and the cylinder jacket opening. A two-stroke diesel combustion engine comprises a cylinder(10) including a cylinder sleeve(12) and a cylinder jacket(26) having one or more cylinder jacket openings(27), and a piston(20) arranged inside the cylinder. The cylinder sleeve has a plurality of scavenging air openings(45) connected to the inside of the cylinder jacket. A shift unit(30) for the scavenging air is arranged between the scavenging air opening and the cylinder jacket opening so that the scavenging air is prevented from directly flowing toward the scavenging air opening from the cylinder jacket opening when the engine is in operation.
