940,798. Rollers. GEORGE ANGUS & CO. Ltd. May 25, 1961 [Feb. 27, 1960], No. 6943/60. Heading F2U. [Also in Division D1] A textile drafting roller 6 having a resilient cot 7 has cavities 8 formed in the outer surface of the roller 6 and/or in the inner surface of the cot 7 (as shown) such that there are at least eight cavities substantially equally spaced around any common circle upon the contacting surfaces. The cavities may be straight and parallel to the axis of the roller or they may extend helically about the axis; alternatively the cavities may take the form of elongated or circular recesses in regular or staggered series, e.g. in helical rows. The cot is preferably made of a synthetic rubber, e.g. a butadiene acrylic nitrile copolymer, and it may be made by moulding on a former or by extrusion. Such cots preferably have a Shere hardness of between 55 degrees and 90 degrees. Examples of the dimensions of grooves, cots and rollers are given.
|
