A possum bait station of moulded plastic includes a container 11 for the poison bait that only possums (rather than birds) should be able to access via the open top 13a and a rotating lid closure 12 that is biased closed by the spring 15 to cover the opening. A possum perched atop the station is clever enough to be able to lean its weight on the lever handle 20 extending from the lid to open the lid against the bias of the spring to retrieve the bait out of the container. The station may be mounted to a tree or post by mounting 24. The lid not only keeps animals other than possums from the bait but also protects the interior of the container from rain and debris.
