The ice axe (10) has a support grip (11) constituted by a rectilinear or curve shaped hollow elongated tube with a pick tool (12) at an upper part and a prehension handle (14) at a lower part. The elongated tube has an intermediate wedge (13) that is engaged in an intermediate stop adjustable in a position along the grip. The wedge has a rotative blocking cam with a pair of bosses that alternatively block the wedge against the grip according to displacement of an activation lever towards a raised position or a lowered position.
