SYSTEM OF ENHANCING COLOR OF IMAGES AND METHOD USING THE SAME

An apparatus of enhancing a color of an image and a method using the same are provided to improve chroma according to an average brightness value and a brightness value per a pixel, thereby maintaining uniformity of a color. A chroma improving unit(102) improves chroma of an input image by using an increasing/decreasing amount of chroma according to a brightness characteristic of the input image. A gray scale area protecting unit(103) determines a final chroma increasing/decreasing amount according to a chroma value of the input image and the chroma increasing/decreasing amount to suppress the chroma improvement in a gray scale area. A color control unit(104) controls a color of the input image by using a color increasing/decreasing amount according to the brightness characteristic of the input image. A brightness value compensating unit(105) compensates for the difference between an input brightness value of the input image and a brightness value generated by applying the final chroma increasing/decreasing amount and the color increasing/decreasing amount to the input image.
