A digital device and an operation method thereof are provided to connect a signal line of a switch so as to achieve data transmission with a storage unit or a jig for debugging through a slot if it is detected that the storage unit or the jig for debugging are inserted into the slot, thereby easily performing debugging. A digital device(10) comprises a slot(11), a detection unit(13) and a switch(15). A storage unit or a jig for debugging is inserted into the slot. The detection unit detects whether the storage unit or the jig for debugging is inserted into the slot or not. If it is detected that the storage unit is inserted into the slot, the switch connects a signal line so that data transmission with the storage unit can be possible through the slot. If it is determined that the jig for debugging is inserted into the slot, the switch connects the signal line so that data transmission with the jig for debugging be possible through the slot.
