The method involves exposing a cosmetic product surface (S) located in a container (R), or on an applicator, to short-wavelength UV (UVC) radiation emitted by a UVC radiation source (20) constituted by UVC LEDs, where the container is closed by a closing unit in a thermoplastic material. The container or the applicator placed in an enclosure (11) is sealed to the radiation. The exposure of the product surface is carried out through a cover of the container, where the cover is partially transparent to the radiation. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for conditioning a cosmetic product, comprising a container (2) a system for decontaminating a cosmetic product applicator, comprising a fixation unit.
