PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To immediately and certainly detect a skew of printing paper generated in the middle of printing, and to promptly and accurately remove the generated skew. SOLUTION: The carrying device comprises a skew detecting means for detecting the skew of the printing paper 20 generated during carrying, and a skew correcting means correcting the skew of the printing paper 20 according to a detection result of the skew by the skew detecting means. The skew detecting means is a pair of sensor rollers 41 (41R, 41L) driven to rotate while contacting with both side ends of the printing paper 20 and detecting the carrying speed of both side ends of the printing paper 20. In the skew correcting means, when the sensor rollers 41 (41R, 41L) detect that the carrying speeds of both end portions of the printing paper 20 are different, both end portions rotate a left end portion 21 or a right end portion 21R of a capstan roller 21 which can be individually rotated, thereby guiding the recording medium in a direction resolving the difference of the carrying speed of both side ends of the printing paper 20.
