THE USE OF PERITONEAL MAST CELLS AS A HEPARIN SOURCE

The present invention relates to peritoneal cell-derived mast cells that are able to respond to IgG stimuli. More specifically, the present invention relates to the capability of peritoneal cell-derived mast cells, expanded in vitro by culturing peritoneal cells with SCF, and to produce heparin. Accordingly, the present invention provides a new source of heparin. In an aspect of the present invention, the heparin producing-cells (or heparin by itself) are used as a part of treatment regimens for treating cardiovascular and/or hematological diseases. Further, the heparin producing-cells (or heparin by itself) may also be used in surgical-related applications.
