PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of photographing a desired subject with high image quality, without imposing a load on the photographer. SOLUTION: An optical system 101 has distortion aberrations that enlarge the center part and compressing the peripheral part. An image sensor 102 receives an optical image which is obtained through the optical system 101 having the distortion aberrations, and converts the image into an electric signal (image signal). A distortion aberration correcting image processor 103 corrects the optical distortion aberrations, with respect to the image signal outputted from the image sensor 102, processes the image to turn into high image quality, and performs data compression processing for recording. These devices are assembled to allow the turning direction of a human face to coincide with the imaging direction of the image sensor 102, with respect to an object which is to be mounted on a human body.
