PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reproducer performing image conversion on a capture image of advanced content such as HD DVD-Video, and to provide a reproduction method. SOLUTION: The reproducer includes a section (101) for acquiring stream data of advanced content, a section (22) for decoding the stream data of advanced content to output a decoding signal, a section (29) for generating a capture file from the decoding signal, and a section (29) for converting the capture file into an image file in different form.
