PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of deteriorating a service life characteristic, when the deterioration by sputtering of a protective film increases when discharge voltage increases, since discharge gas of the high Xe concentration is used. SOLUTION: Light emitting luminance-light emitting efficiency is improved by largely securing a discharge space by an AC opposed discharge system 2-electrode discharge PDP, and bright room contrast is increased by restraining the opening ratio to 40% or less. The partition wall height is secured by 0.2 mm or more for largely securing the discharge space, and the function is separated into an area having the sputtering resistant function and an area having the wall electric charge holding function by using a technique for forming the protective film by changing a characteristic with every area.
