PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance resolution of a volumetric 3D display based on a rotating display screen or a rotating display panel. SOLUTION: A display area of an SLM (spatial light modulator) is divided into a plurality of sections. Each section corresponds to another volumetric area of a display space. The display space thereby has a plurality of areas. An image frame projected from the specific section forms a volumetric 3D image part in the corresponding area. The positions of the areas are placed according to distance with respect to the rotation axis of a display plane. The internal area is on the side close to the axis, and the outer area is far from the axis. In this method, one section of data is written in a section at a time in repetitive and periodic sequence, and the images of the sections are displayed in the corresponding repetitive and periodic sequence. The writing sequence is set to write more frequently in the internal section and less frequently in the outer section.
